'The Heavenly Jade Flute' - new HYS MV ft. Naoki Sato's Hiten

Anyone like Naoki Sato's 'Hiten' from Rurouni Kenshin 2012 movie? I'm using that music for my new Huang Yaoshi action MV above. The title of this video is 'The Heavenly Jade Flute', a combination of one of Huang Yaoshi's signature moves (Jade Flute Swordplay) and Kenshin's Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu (飛天御剣流, Flying Heaven-governing Sword Style).

I've always loved Naoki Sato's 'Hiten', and I totally heart the Rurouni Kenshin Trilogy (Takeru Sato is Kenshin-reincarnated!), so I am happy that Hiten fits this Huang Yaoshi MV.

Hope you like it! The Dailymotion and Vimeo versions are after the break.

I really, really loved your movie. As someone who has made some fan videos once or twice, I know it's a lot of hard work. Very Well Done. The editing to match the story of the song was spot on and I watched it several times. It made me want to watch the series again.

I had never heard of Naoki Sato before, so watching this inspired me to check out her other work. It reminds me of Audiomachine - which is more Hollywood type of theme music as opposed to Asian-inspired. The song Hiten really got to me and I couldn't get it out of my head. It's such a perfect song for wuxia serials. And because Huang Yao Shi is my latest character infatuation, the combination of HYS and Hiten has really gotten under my skin. So much so that I'm attempting my own fan video using the combination that you inspired.

Thank you for the comments! You're the first person to comment on this video here (some had done so at YouTube, but not here), thus thank you so much. I love Rurouni Kenshin live action, and Hiten is an amazing OST of that movie. Totally recommended for sheer sword fights!

Let me know when your video is done, I'd like to see it.

Hi Icha. I finished my fanvideo. I tried to post it to DailyMotion but it's not letting me upload it there for some reason. So I posted it at YouTube so you can view it. Sorry about that. Let me know what you think of it. You can watch it here: https://youtu.be/OgBD6H8M-_o.

Hi Sam O,

I've watched the video, I think it's nice. You've definitely picked more scenes than what I've picked, so it's good to remember those scenes again. I'm also thankful for you mentioning my site and crediting me in the description, thank you very much for that, truly appreciate it.

I do, however, have some suggestions that I hope you don't mind... The MV in general has synchronised its scenes with the music beat (well done!), except for the first few scenes. IMO, extending the video longer than the length of the music is not the best strategy, because people can lose focus after some time (8 min is long for an MV). I also think that an MV should acknowledge the music source (in this case Naoki Sato's Hiten) at the end (or even at the beginning) to show appreciation to the artist. The MV's end seems abrupt because the music was cut instead of letting it end naturally. Ending the MV with the LOCH 2017 OST might work, but I think letting Hiten ends naturally before inserting the OST would lend to a smoother ending... Otherwise, the viewers might perceive it as the author/MV maker running out of idea of how to end the MV (which I do perceive here).

I hope you are not offended with those feedback (I do paper reviews on a regular basis, hence I might have extended that habit here...). It's still a fine piece of MV that reminds me of the glorious days of LOCH 2017. Thank you for that.

It's from the Legend of Condor Heroes 2017. The internet has many versions of it, I'm sure you can find a site to watch it with the English subtitle... (I have a deadline now hence I can't help you searching, but all the best!)
