Season's Greetings and Michael Miu news and photos

One can wait for 40 years... but one finally wins an award!!! (Source)

Apologies for the lack of updates... I'm still in love with Michael Miu and Barbara Yung, it's just that I am more engaged with another genre and actor at the moment (Okada Masaki and J-ent, if you must ask...), in addition to being quite busy with work.

Anyway. Merry Christmas 2017, and may you have a beautiful end to 2017 and a beautiful 2018. Be happy, healthy and in peace.

In the jianghu news, I have just found out that Michael Miu won the 2017 TVB Malaysia "King" award, along with Jessica Hsuan (who won the "Queen").  Apologies that this news is a month late, for they won it on 25 Nov 2017. But hey, this is the first award for Michael for 40 years IIRC, so congratulations!

Michael won the King award for his role in "Line Walker: the Prelude" while Jessica won for her role in "My Unfair Lady". Michael and Jessica also won the "My Favourite TVB Drama Characters" award for their roles in the respective dramas.

I was always a bit sad that, prior to this award, Michael never won an award despite his amazing skills... but now yeah! He won one! Michael himself said that he made movies not because he wanted to win an award, but it's good to have them nonetheless.

They should give you more awards, if you ask me, Michael! Congratulations once again! Some recent Michael Miu photos after the break.

Hi Icha,

It's Kim! I was looking for new dramas to watch and someone said to watch the LOCH w/ Michael as Eastern Heretic. Have you fully watched it yet? Even though I was born in the 90's, 1983 will always be my favorite (because my mom and I would watch it together lol).

Hi Kim!

Long time no see!

I've seen LOCH 2017 with Michael Miu, and I think he was a delightful Huang Yaoshi. My recaps are here:

I do agree the 1983 will always be the classic, but you can give the 2017 one a try, at least for HYS. The 1983 music reused in the 2017 is also delightful.

Let me know how it goes.

Hi. I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your site. I saw bits and pieces of LOCH when my mom and sister would watch HK serial dramas. But I didn’t care all that much until The New Adventures of CLH was put on. I was little (5 or 6) but was really into character of CLH. I was so young and didn’t know much other than I wanted to just watch him. My family had a lot of fun teasing me about my first crush. Recently over the holidays, this episode in my life was brought up as part of our family reminiscing and brought back so many memories that I went on a google spree trying to find info on my dashing first crush. That brought me to your site. I’ve voraciously read all your posts. And can’t get enough. Your recaps inspired me to binge-watch CLH all in one day. And wouldn’t you know, I swooned and fell in love with the man all over again. And Barbara was so perefect as SC that I saw Foundation and Fearless Duo all in the same week. Those two just make me smile nonstop. And good lord, Michael in his 60’s is still making my heart flutter. I’ve got LOCH (‘83 and 2017) on my list next. The pictures and your HYS movies have me so excited to see his portrayal.

I just wanted to drop a note to tell you how wonderful your posts are. I’m not a big fan-fiction reader, but I’ve enjoyed all your stories. And I love the book summaries you write on the Gu Long novels on CLH. I am so enthralled with the character and can’t wait for more. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and taking the time to put together all these treats on your site!

Hello Anon!

Thank you so much for the kind words, they mean a lot to me! As you can see, I haven't written in a long time, but I'm glad my posts , MVs and fanfics are enjoyable to you.

Watching 40 eps of CLH in one day OMG! I watched them in 4 days I think and got dizzy because of the binge watching, but you did that in ONE day!

Where did you watch the Foundation, btw? The Mandarin or the Cantonese version? I prefer the Canto version because it's their real voices.

Yeah, I have an obsessive personality. If I want to do something, I have to do it regardless of work and sleep. I also have no willpower so I couldn't stop. Bad combination of personality traits, but it was worth it to re-watch CLH to see if my feelings were the same. I must confess that I did cheat a bit and fast forwarded. I hated the girl who played the Bat Prince's love interest - so whiny and dumb.

I also just finished Legend of the Condor Heroes. I really liked it and I'll comment about my thoughts on your post there. I really loved Michael's HYS.

I watched Fearless Duo on DailyMotion. I forgot what the user was - maybe English Sub Dramas - It's in Cantonese with subtitles. I also prefer the Cantonese versions because it's the voice of the original actors. I feel that voice work is part of actors work and delivery is such a big part of the performance. So when I have a choice, I go with the original language

Hey, thanks a lot for the comments! Sorry for the late reply, traveling now with limited internet. Will reply to your other comments soon.

I think Miss Kam is indeed annoying, though I also pity her (that @$$ of the boyfriend was definitely an @$$!). I like her in the Flying Fox of the Snowy Mountain, though.

We just finished watching Condor Heroes 2017, highly recommended. Michael Mui is really cool. The producer is a fan of the 1983 version and wanted to remake it respectfully similar to that version. I think the actress Li Yitong who played Huang Rong was chosen because she share some similarity with Barbara.

TVB recently uploaded the 1988 series Two Most Honorable Knights to YouTube. It starred Tony Leung, Hugo Ng, Kitty Lai, and Shallin Tse among others. Michael and Jamie appeared in Ep. 1. They played a tragic couple who were the parents of twin infant boys (Tony and Hugo’s characters). I had seen this series in the late 80’s, but had totally forgotten about it. I don’t think I will continue to rewatch it (not a Kitty Lai fan at all). Both Michael and Jamie looked glamorous even for an ancient series. I don't think they had extra on screen chemistry though. I'm slowly catching up with watching Michael's series from the past decade and I still think Barbara paired with Michael the best.

Thanks Anon. I didn't know abt Two Most Honourable Knights, but I won't watch it either (too many things to do these days). Thanks for saying hi, though.
